Will Knitted Sportswear Fabric pill after being washed multiple times?

The tendency of knitted sportswear fabrics to pilling after multiple washes depends on several determining factors, including the quality of the fabric, fiber composition, and whether appropriate care instructions are followed. The following is an overview of the key considerations for pilling knitted sportswear fabrics:
Fiber composition: The composition of fibers in a fabric determines its likelihood of pilling. Compared to synthetic fibers such as polyester, natural fibers such as cotton are more prone to pilling. The mixture of natural fibers and synthetic fibers may exhibit different pilling behaviors.
Fabric quality: High quality knitted sportswear fabric with stronger ball resistance. These top-level fabrics are usually made using a tight woven or knitted process to reduce the formation of loose fibers and thus reduce the occurrence of pilling.
Yarn structure: Fabrics made from multifilament or multi-component yarns typically exhibit a lower pilling tendency. These yarns integrate multiple smaller fibers, firmly interlocking them together to reduce the possibility of single fiber breakage and the formation of hairballs.
Fabric finishing: Some sportswear fabrics are treated with finishing, such as brushing or singeing, to eliminate loose fibers on the surface. These treatments can enhance the anti pilling ability of the fabric.
Clothing design: The design of clothing (including seam positions and areas prone to friction) may affect the likelihood of pilling. Areas with frequent friction are more prone to pilling.
Maintenance instructions: Following the maintenance guidelines specified on the clothing label is crucial for reducing pilling. Excessive washing, use of irritating detergents, hot water washing, or high-temperature drying can all exacerbate pilling. For many sportswear fabrics, it is usually recommended to choose gentle washing, mild detergent, and then air dry or use a low heat setting in the dryer.
Wear: Pilling usually becomes more pronounced in high wear areas of clothing, such as the underarm area or along the belt. Regular inspection and maintenance of these areas can help extend the original appearance of the knitted sportswear fabrics.
Removing pilling: If pilling does occur, there are usually remedial measures. Various methods and tools, such as fabric razors or fuzzers, can be used to gently remove hair balls from the surface of the fabric without causing damage.
